While the basics of the frames are the same, the real difference lies in their use. High tunnels are built over your field for protected in-ground growing and season extension. Greenhouses are typically used for nursery crops and seed starting. Greenhouse kits often come with more upgrades, such as double-layer plastic and fans, and heat can be added. Generally no. EQIP cost-shares high tunnels, and you must plan to grow in the ground in the tunnel for the length of your contract. Rules vary by state, so confirm with your local NRCS office.
